Civic Pride
spacer.gif
doorway.gifNamed after George II's daughter, Anne, this quaint Maryland town is listed in the National Register of historic places, and boasts a long, proud history that is dearly cherished by its citizens. Carefully preserved Federal and Victorian houses line the graceful streets, underscoring the sense of pride and commitment found throughout the community of Princess Anne.

Educational Enrichment
spacer.gif
umes02.gifWinds of change blow through this village every fall as Freshmen begin study at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The University is a central figure in the community, enhancing the cultural and economic life of Princess Anne, Somerset County, and the lower Eastern Shore. Moreover, it is visited by researchers, scholars, and artists from around the globe, and regularly collaborates with many businesses in joint ventures, which have built new industries and created jobs on the Shore.

Historic Preservation
spacer.gif
teackle02.gifAs the county seat, Princess Anne is the ideal starting point for day trips to the Lower Eastern Shore. History buffs and antique lovers will want to explore the town, and take advantage of the many unique shopping and dining experiences available. A self-guided walking tour features 36 historic buildings, all within a ten-block radius, which is highlighted by Teackle Mansion, a magnificent five-part brick house built by Littleton Dennis Teackle. And during the second weekend of every October, the town hosts Olde Princess Anne Days: a time when visitors can tour some of the Shore's finest homes and gardens, enjoy period craft demonstrations, horse-and-carriage rides, music, and much more.
